How To Do Virtual Book Launches

Despite the COVID-19 crisis, many books are still launching each week. Due to shelter-in-place orders and the need for physical distancing, launch parties at bookstores have of course been canceled. Because of this, we’re getting questions from partners about how to connect with readers en masse without these in-person opportunities.

So today, we’re sharing examples of some authors’ virtual book launch events, highlighting both the tools they’re using and how they’re promoting the events ahead of time. Since every author will have different format preferences and target audiences, we rounded up a variety of examples, including:

  1. Instagram Live
  2. YouTube Live
  3. Facebook Live
  4. Zoom Webinar
  5. Twitch Livestream
  6. Prerecorded Videos
  7. Twitter Chat
  8. Reddit AMA

Hopefully, we’ve managed to prove that a pandemic doesn’t have to stop you from celebrating the publication of your book with friends and family! By following these simple steps, you should be well on your way to organizing a stellar online book launch event, and brightening the day of everyone involved. Keep in mind that these are general guidelines, as each book launch is unique. You know your audience and what they’d enjoy, so don’t be afraid to get creative!

Should you decide to try your hand at an online book launch, we hope it turns out to be a great new experience for you. Also, we’d be really interested to hear about your experience! So if you go through with it, please contact us and tell us how it went! We’d love to hear from you.
